The Russian film FAUST, directed by Alexander Sukorov, was created in 2009. Story of one sided love and boundless passion drawing you into a world of times long gone is the captivating pilgrimage full of poetic and harsh images. Sokurov's unusual film urgently points out human weakness and faults and rediscovers Faust as a deeply human being. However loosely inspired by Goethe's story, Sokurov radically reinterprets well known myth of the soul being sold to a devil. The film won the top prize (Golden Lion) at the 2011 Venice Film Festival.
